The Roman Road vineyard is situated on the sunny, sheltered slopes of the North Downs of Kent, the Garden of England. Exuding a true sense of place, our Roman Road Chardonnay is elegant and pure, with a distinctive mineral quality that you would expect from fruit grown on these iconic chalk soils.
This single vineyard, still white wine is created from Chardonnay grapes carefully selected for their maturity and concentration. The juice undergoes primary and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks in our state-of-the-art winery, before ageing for three months in French oak barrels.
The Roman Road Chardonnay displays aromas of white peach and lime, with clean, citrus flavours, smooth cashew nut on the palate and subtle hints of spice and vanilla.
This still wine has established a very exclusive, quality base for the Simpsons Wine Estate portfolio and will continue to be produced in limited quantities alongside the sparkling range.
The Wine Garden of England is formed of seven Kent wine producers: Simpsons Wine Estate, Biddenden, Chapel Down, Domaine Evremond, Gusbourne, Hush Heath and Squerryes. This friendly collective was created to promote Kent’s unique and prized terroir, as well as its superb quality wines.
