On Thursday 8th October, Simpsons' Wine Estate hosted “Raise a Glass to Demelza”, a virtual tasting event exclusively for corporate partners in support of Demelza Hospice Care for Children. The team at Simpsons’ Wine Estate is delighted to be working in partnership with this incredible local charity, particularly with the increased pressures that 2020 has presented thus far.
The online event offered guests the chance to enjoy a tour and tasting experience in the comfort of their own home, whilst also being able to learn more about the amazing work of the charity and how they have adapted in order to continue secure specialist care and emotional support for children with terminal conditions and their loved ones over the recent months.
Every ticket for the virtual tasting event included access to the event, a bottle of the highly-acclaimed Derringstone Pinot Meunier 2019 and a selection of nibbles, generously provided by Macknade Fine Foods in Faversham and Kent Crisps.
The event has already raised over £1,600, which could cover the cost of 145 hours of care by a Demelza Health Care Assistant; supporting their families and children, where and when they need it the most; or 26 hours of art or music therapy, helping children cope with their condition, build memories and express their feelings. The charity only receives a small amount of government funding, and they rely on donations to keep providing these life-changing services, and more, to children with serious or terminal conditions and their families.
