Simpsons’ Wine Estate is delighted to announce that their premium sparkling wine, Flint Fields Blanc de Noirs 2018, has been awarded “Best in Class, English Blanc de Noirs” and the supreme accolade of “National Champion, Best English Sparkling Wine” in the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships 2022. This competition is renowned in the industry for being the most respected, comprehensive and rigorous for judging sparkling wines at an international level.
Produced during the incredible harvest of 2018, this is the third vintage of Flint Fields Blanc de Noirs. It is created using Pinot Noir Clone 115, specifically selected for its full-bodied style, owing to a slight accentuation of tannins that generates a more luxurious mouth-feel. Expertly crafted using the Great British Classic Method, Flint Fields Blanc de Noirs exemplifies English finesse and balance.
With a golden hue and a fine, persistent bead, this wine has a luxurious, vanilla and fine pastry nose. On the palate it is elegant and poised, with poached pear and generous red fruit flavours perfectly married with hints of almond croissant and wonderful savoury nuances. It is bone dry and has a smooth, elegant finish.
Winning this award is a huge achievement for Simpsons’ Wine Estate, which has a growing reputation for being one of the most highly-respected English wine producers in the UK. The Estate’s wines have been incredibly well-received by consumers, premium retailers and luxury hospitality establishments across the UK. They also now have an expanding profile in the export market, particularly in Scandinavia.
Co-Founders Ruth & Charles Simpson are “thrilled with this accolade from such a highly respected, global competition, especially given the quality of wines we were up against in the English Sparkling Wine category. We are incredibly proud of this Simpsons’ sparkling wine, which reflects the expertise and dedication of our amazing team across all stages of the winemaking journey.”
Ruth and Charles Simpson were joined by Head Winemaker, Leigh Sparrow, and Estate Manager, Darryl Kemp, to receive the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships “National Champion, Best English Sparkling Wine” trophy and “Best in Class” award at the ceremonial dinner, held in London on the evening of Thursday 3 November 2022.
This noteworthy accolade gives the team another cause for celebration in an already significant year in the Simpsons’ story, as they toasted the Estate’s 10th anniversary, established their third vineyard site, Bonny Bush Hill, to meet the growing demand for their wines, and safely gathered in another impressive harvest, with record volumes to date.
