Technical Details

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Meunier

Alcohol: 12.5% Vol

Harvesting & Vinification: Pinot Meunier grapes from the Railway Hill vineyard, overlooking the picturesque hamlet of Derringstone, were hand-picked and carefully whole bunch pressed.  The juice settled for 48 hours before racking, underwent a long, slow primary fermentation using aromatic yeasts and full malolactic fermentation.

Secondary Fermentation & Ageing: The wine rested over the winter months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks to build depth and palate weight before bottling in spring 2021.

Reviews

“Simpsons has produced a vinous unicorn…ripened to perfection here, a revelation of stewed-peach credentials.”

Rob Buckhaven, The Metro

"The bar was set for Simpsons' after their range of English sparklings garnered critical acclaim across the wine world, but their recently released stills are equally impressive. Created from grapes grown in the North Downs, the Derringstone Pinot Meunier displays impressive purity and complexity from relatively young vines. Expect poached winter berries with a touch of balsamic acidity and a rich mouthfeel. A glass will inevitably lead to a bottle, but who are we to judge?"
